"I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away."
John 16:1
It was a critical time for the apostles, Jesus was preparing them for His death. The next three days would be the hardest of their lives. Everything they believed in Him and everything they thought they had learned in the last three years would suddenly fall apart. Their King was to be crucified.
The sadness, the sense of failure, the loss of direction in their lives, would be overwhelming. Jesus prepares them with powerful words of assurance.
"But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you." John 16:4
"Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the helper will not come to you. But if I go I will send Him to you." John 16:7
"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
Don't ever fall away from Christ! If your faith is growing weak, listen to His words in John 16 and He will give you strength.
