Adoption has always been seen as a great act of love. The adopting parents have freely determined to give all the blessings of their home to a child who has no parents. The Greek and Roman laws concerning adoption during the time of Christ were very specific. An adopted child came into the family with all of the rights of a natural born child. If a couple that adopted a child later had natural children the adopted child was still considered to have all the rights of the other children.
When you consider this passage think about the blessing of being adopted by Jehovah God. In every sense of the word at that moment we become His children. Given all the blessings that the family of God can offer to us including an inheritance of eternal life in heaven. There is no difference between children, all of us are loved and cared for by our Heavenly Father.
Why not bring a friend with you Sunday to take a look at the blessings of being adopted by God?
