Learning What To Love

It's exciting to see all of the young families and young singles that are a part of our Brown Street family. There were 49 people in one of our young adult classes this last week; also a herd of  young kids in our Children's worship. I don't know if you'd call kids a herd or not, but there sure was a lot of them and they were all excited.

In Mark chapter 10 Jesus tells the story of the rich young man who was raised in a good family. It is obvious that he was raised in a good family because he had kept The Commandments not to murder, steal, commit adultery or to bear false witness; he honored his mother and his father. However, as Jesus questioned him more, He found out that the young man lacked one thing.

This young man didn't understand what he should really love. God had blessed him with many things to enjoy just as He has blessed us with many things to enjoy. But the wealth he had and the pleasures they brought should not have become the most important things in his life. Jesus wants us to love Him more than anything else! Matthew 22:37-39

I'm looking forward to watching our young families grow as they teach their children to love Jesus more than anything else in their lives.
